# Emergency Unlock
For a real emergency, not for the timeline. Five minutes, once per day, from the Block Apps page.
## How to use it
Use it only when something is actually urgent.
1. Open brb.
2. Go to the Block Apps page.
3. Tap Emergency Unlock.
4. Locked apps stay open for five minutes.
## Limits
You get one Emergency Unlock per day. It resets at midnight. After the five minutes, the step lock applies again until you hit the goal.
## How this differs from Ignore Limit
iPhone Screen Time can offer Ignore Limit or a passcode you know. Emergency Unlock is capped: five minutes, once. Spending it on scrolling means you have used the exception.
## Questions
### Can I unlock only one app?
Emergency Unlock opens the locked apps for that five-minute window. The ordinary path to reopen them for the day is still the step goal.
### Does Strict Mode disable Emergency Unlock?
No. Strict Mode removes the casual ignore path. Emergency Unlock remains as the once-a-day exception.
