# Strict Mode
Strict Mode is for people who already know they will tap through a soft limit. It closes the casual exit while chosen apps are locked.
## What it does
With Strict Mode on, brb does not offer an ignore button for the lock. The ordinary way into blocked apps is to hit the daily step goal tracked through Apple Health.
## What it does not do
Strict Mode is not the same as deleting the app or removing Screen Time permission. If you revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings, blocking cannot work. It is also not a substitute for picking a hittable step goal.
## Emergency Unlock still exists
Once per day you can use Emergency Unlock for five minutes from the Block Apps page. That is the exception for a real emergency. It resets at midnight. It is not meant to reopen the feed every morning.
## Questions
### Should I turn Strict Mode on immediately?
If softer Screen Time limits already failed, yes. If you are still learning the habit, you can start without it and turn it on when you notice yourself hunting for a bypass.
### Is Strict Mode the same as Opal Hard Mode?
Similar idea, different product. Opal Hard Mode / Deep Focus protects timed focus rules. Strict Mode protects brb’s step lock.
